Connect Tesemble as an MCP server in Claude and ChatGPT

Tesemble exposes a hosted MCP server so Claude and ChatGPT can suggest audiences, run persona-grid simulations, and return segment insights using your Tesemble credits.

Tesemble exposes a hosted Model Context Protocol (MCP) server so you can run GTM and ICP simulations from Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor without re-implementing the workflow in prompts. The server URL is the same everywhere:

https://app.tesemble.com/mcp

Sign in with the same Tesemble account you use in the web app. Simulation runs spend the credits on that account; buying credits still happens at app.tesemble.com.

What you get after connecting

The MCP server exposes tools to:

  • Check your balance (tesemble_get_me)
  • Suggest a persona grid from a brief or URL (free)
  • Create and run experiments, including ICP discovery and GTM validation
  • Read insights, compare runs, and draft message variants
  • Manage saved audiences and message hunts

In the Tesemble app, open Connect from the account menu for the live server URL and Cursor install link.

Connect in Claude

Claude connects to remote MCP servers from Anthropic's cloud, so the server must be reachable on the public internet (Tesemble's production endpoint is).

Pro, Max, and individual plans

  1. Open Customize → Connectors.
  2. Click Add, hover Custom, and select Web.
  3. Name the connector Tesemble and paste https://app.tesemble.com/mcp.
  4. Continue through authentication. Choose Sign in when needed (or Sign in now) and, under OAuth client, Use Claude's published identity (Recommended).
  5. Click Add.
  6. In a new chat, open + → Connectors, enable Tesemble, and complete sign-in when Claude asks.

Official guide: Get started with custom connectors using remote MCP.

Team and Enterprise

An Owner may need to add the custom connector under Organization settings → Connectors first. Members then connect from Customize → Connectors as above.

Find Tesemble in the directory

After we publish the connector listing, you can also add Tesemble from Claude's Connectors Directory instead of pasting the URL manually.

Connect in ChatGPT

You add custom MCP servers from the Plugins experience. You do not need a separate “developer mode” toggle for a personal custom server connection.

  1. Open ChatGPT and go to Plugins.
  2. Select the plus button, then Add custom MCP server.
  3. Enter a name (for example Tesemble) and paste https://app.tesemble.com/mcp under Connection.
  4. Configure OAuth authentication and acknowledge the risk warning.
  5. Create the plugin and review the discovered tools.
  6. Start a chat, @mention the plugin, and sign in with your Tesemble account when prompted.

Official guide: Connecting custom MCP servers in ChatGPT.

Plan notes: Full MCP support (including write actions) is available on ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, and Edu workspaces. Pro users can connect custom MCP servers with read/fetch permissions. Workspace admins control whether custom MCP connections are allowed.

Connect in Cursor

Use Add to Cursor from the Tesemble app Connect page, or add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "Tesemble": {
      "url": "https://app.tesemble.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Cursor opens Clerk sign-in; use the same Tesemble account as the web app.

Example prompts once connected

  • “Check my Tesemble credits, then suggest an audience for this landing page URL.”
  • “Run ICP discovery on this one-paragraph product brief and summarize who it lands with.”
  • “Test these two cold email variants against my saved enterprise audience.”

Ask the model to call tesemble_get_me before any run that spends credits, and to keep persona grids small unless you explicitly want a larger sample.

Free skill vs hosted MCP

Our open-source icp-gtm-sim skill runs a similar method inside Claude or ChatGPT without an account. The hosted MCP server adds authenticated access to your experiments, saved audiences, hunts, and visual reports in the Tesemble app, with more accurate and faster runs at scale.

FAQ

Is the MCP server the same as a ChatGPT plugin?

For discovery in the public Plugin Directory, OpenAI lists a plugin package that points at this MCP server. For your own workspace, you can add the server directly with Add custom MCP server as above.

Where do I buy credits?

Only at app.tesemble.com. The MCP tools do not process payments inside Claude or ChatGPT.

Can I use a local MCP server?

ChatGPT and Claude.ai require a remote HTTPS endpoint. Use the hosted URL unless you expose your own deployment on the public internet.

What if OAuth fails?

Confirm you are signing into the same Tesemble account you use in the browser app. If your organization restricts custom connectors or plugins, ask an admin to allow Tesemble or publish the workspace connector for you.
